Let Go

In her gentle arms, the child leapt in fear,
Her face wasn't the same, nor was the touch;
At just 1, he wasn't really the kind who was aware,
Of life and love, and similar things as such.
But still, he trod on the path ahead,
Not knowing where he will end up once,
when the future becomes a present of its own,
and the past turns into memories for once.
The challenge was not knowing why and how,
Instead, it was knowing who,
One day that moment would arrive, he knew,
Till then he had lots to do.
Firstly it's growing up and becoming a man,
Taking life as it comes, slow and steady,
Trying to make a living out of nothing,
Lest the burdens turn out to be very heavy.
Then comes the difficult part of learning where he is from,
And then get shocked and stunned and sad,
And then the real search begins for him at last,
To find his real mum and dad.
But that's when the 'steps' become a bit too steep,
And the long winding road ahead, a bit too narrow,
They try to send a message to him, near but afar,
That whatever the fear is, the truth is not so shallow.
It took a while to understand what they meant,
But, for real, they were finally letting go,
Of their symbol of the sacrifice, they had made once,
A very long time ago.
Years later when they will meet again, they hoped,
To see him with his future in his hands,
Just the way they had him once,
Leaping in fear in their hands.
